Kim’s journey began in West Virginia, where she won the title of Miss West Virginia and represented the mountain in the Miss America Pageant in 1992. Her appreciation for the scholarship organization and her entrepreneurial skills led her to accepting the role of President of Miss America’s teen competition, MAOTeen, Inc., where she transformed a fledgling teen pageant into a nationally known scholarship competition that awarded $33 million of in-kind and cash scholarships annually during her tenure and was recognized by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce as one of 100 Blue Ribbon award-winning businesses in America. Kim’s leadership endeavors were honored by the Stevie Awards for Women in Business with awards for Female Executive of the Year, Female Innovator of the Year, Women Helping Women and PR Campaign of the Year.
